Workers under the age of 25 are disproportionately more likely to be injured on the job than are the rest of the population. Of those workers under 25 who are injured in this province, nearly 60 percent were injured during their first six months on the job. Young workers are also less informed about their rights and are more likely to be exploited financially or harassed by their employers.
The Work Plays Schools Program engages young workers through lively, entertaining and thought-provoking professional theatre productions that inform young workers of their responsibilities and rights to a safe and healthy workplace.
We bring the Work Plays Schools Program to Alberta schools FREE OF CHARGE.
The Work Plays Schools Program currently offers two plays:
Working It Out by Beth Graham
for High School students
October 19 – November 29, 2015
THAT’S DANGER! by Dave Clarke
for Junior High School students
February 20 – April 30, 2017
Each play is 60 minutes long, including a facilitated discussion that explores the issues raised by the performance. Students and teachers are also provided with the resources and tools available for them to exercise their workplace rights.
